A brief outline of the day
The Menopause retreat session is 5 hours long.
10-10.45am Settling in and house keeping and morning Yoga stretch
10.45-11.45am
Firstly, we will start with an informal chat, opening up a dialogue about Menopause, our symptoms, and what the stages are that we go through, finding the connections between us, and reminding ourselves, that we are not alone.
We’ll be talking about journaling, and how it helps us to track our symptoms and make sense of our feelings, enabling us to predict when the symptoms might be worse, and realise that knowledge is power. This will lead into our talk from Ave, a local trainee counselling psychologist, discussing our mental health during Menopause.
Followed by a 15 minute refreshment break.
12-1.30pm
We’ll then start our yoga practice with meditation and breathing techniques, moving into yoga poses all specifically picked to help with different emotional symptoms such as stress, anxiety, mood swings (Meno rage!), depression, and trouble sleeping, but also physical symptoms such as pain, mobility, rebuilding strength, and improving bone density throughout the different stages we may experience during our menopause journey.
Followed by a 30 minute snack and refreshment break.
2pm-3pm
Our second half will then begin, with Rebecca Thompson from Treetop Hypnotherapy, who will be explaining all about how CBT hypnotherapy can help you and giving you tools to take away, then she will be leading a 30 minute Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy session. Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach, that utilises hypnosis to promote positive changes in an individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
It combines elements of psychotherapy and hypnosis, to help individuals achieve specific goals, overcome challenges, or improve their overall well-being. Each workshop will have a different theme and focus.
3pm-3.45pm
Finishing with a relaxing and delicious sound bath. A sound bath involves being bathed in sound and vibrations from different instruments, such as singing bowls, gongs, chimes, tuning forks and other instruments. Sound baths can guide you into a state of deep relaxation, to enable you to let go of stress, anxiety and worries, lowering heart rate, breathing rate and blood pressure.
3.45-4pm
Closing the session and questions.
