A few years back at 35, I began to get strange symptoms that I’d never suffered with previously.
My aches and pains changed, I’d been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia the year before, but this was different. Then a few months later, the Heart palpitations began. Off to the doctors I went, referred to Cardiology, nope, nothing wrong with your heart. The forgetfulness and brain fog, I actually thought there was something seriously wrong! The days of unexplainable anxiety, the feeling like I’d forgotten something, the sudden bloating around my stomach, the reflux, the hair where hair should not be growing, mood swings, WOW! All of this adding up to making me feel miserable, and trip after trip to the doctors, with the same answer “No there’s nothing wrong with you”.
At a coffee date with a friend of mine, I told her about all my symptoms and she suggested I looked into Peri-Menopause. I thought “I cant be Menopausal! I’m 35 and I’m not having hot flushes?” I then looked at the symptoms! I had almost every symptom of Perimenopause, all except the hot flushes! Another trip to the doctors, and was told I was too young but they’d do blood tests, which of course came back inconclusive, and all they could offer me was anti depressants. I felt totally let down. So I decided to do my own research and see if I could manage my symptoms naturally.
Since then, I have completed courses in Menopause coaching and nutrition, Exercise in Menopause, Menopause Yoga, Menopause Pilates and I’m continuing to learn, so I can enable women from all walks of life (and that is anyone who has had or does have a uterus and ovaries) to feel empowered, educated and supported throughout their menopause journey.
This is a time in life where we find our new strength, the strength to say “No”, the strength to speak our mind, to care less about the things that are irrelevant and care more about finding the you that you were meant to be all along.
